IWO JIMA'S FLAG

On February 23, 1945, six U.S. Marines planted an American flag on top of the battle-blasted hill on the island of Iwo Jima, a strongly defended Japanese stronghold.

Photographer Joe Rosenthal captured the moment in a single, immortal image which, two days later, was on the front page of Sunday papers across de U.S.

Our language assistant, Milo Bowles, has discussed, this past week, the iconic photograph taken during World War II on top of Iwo Jima's mountain with 4th ESO students.
